Program Leaders
We all know that quality matters for a child’s healthy development and learning. That’s why Rhode Island has developed BrightStars, a voluntary quality rating and improvement system that helps early learning and child care programs implement best practices.
BrightStars measures and supports quality in state licensed or approved programs, including:
What are the benefits to joining BrightStars?
- Many child care programs in Rhode Island are already providing a level of care above what licensing requires. BrightStars is an opportunity to be recognized for that effort.
- Participating programs are featured on our website. Parents and others use the website to search for participating programs in their city/town of residence or work and by other characteristics important to families.
- Programs participating in BrightStars receive support to use their rating to market their program to parents.
- Participating programs receive an objective program assessment as well as feedback on program strengths and challenges. Programs use this information to develop benchmarks and strategies to guide improvement.
- BrightStars supports programs in accessing local and national resources that support quality. BrightStars participants receive preferred/priority status for local quality improvement services.
